Stunning White-Sand Beach
I have no doubt where I would be spending my time at Pink Shell Resort – I would be planted in a beach chair on the 12 acre private white sand beach with a good book! The resort is located on a barrier island on the Gulf Coast of Florida so the water is calm and warm during the summer, the sand is soft and white and the beach is extremely spacious.
The resort has beach chairs and umbrella included with your stay but you can also rent a beach hut for a half or full day. In the evening you can enjoy the breathtaking sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico from the beach or from your room. Sounds idyllic, doesn’t it?
Spacious Accommodations
I learned early on travelling with my kids that spacious accommodations could make the difference between a happy vacation and a not-so-happy vacation! This is especially true as the kids get older.
This won’t be an issue for your family at Pink Shell Beach Resort which has spacious one and two bedroom condo suites that are ideal for families on vacation. Some of the units have full kitchens and washer/dryers which make them a true home away from home.
Each unit at the resort has a guaranteed beach view and a private screened in lanai where guests can watch the sunset. Parents of young children will appreciate that they can escape to the lanai and relax once the lights are out and the kids are fast asleep – no need to hide in the bathroom to avoid waking up the kids here!
Swimming Pool Fun
If your kids are anything like mine then the swimming pools at a resort rank right up there in importance with the beach. The Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina will not disappoint as there are three heated swimming pools including the lagoon-style Octopool which is a favourite with kids. There is also a splash area for the little ones with fountains and sprayers.
Award-Winning Dining Options
Meals aren’t often a highlight at family-friendly resorts but that isn’t the case at the Pink Shell. The resort features an award-winning restaurant, Jack’s Farm to Fork, which is committed to offering regionally grown and/or organic, humanely raised and environmentally conscious food.
The restaurant sources ingredients directly from farmers, taking advantage of seasonally available fruits and vegetables as well as fresh meats and fresh seafood from the Gulf to serve guests with delicious meals that are both sustainable and healthy.
The resort also has a casual poolside bar and grill (Bongo’s) where mom and dad can enjoy a frozen cocktail while the kids splash in the pool.
Breakfast might become the favourite as well as the most important meal of the day as the daily buffet is served with a view of the beach and includes made-to-order omelets, waffles with an assortment of toppings, home-fried potatoes, fresh-cut fruit, steel-cut oatmeal, a variety of cold cereals and baked goods.
Family-Friendly Activities
The Pink Shell Resort offers such a wide range of activities that there is no chance parents will hear those dreaded words “I’m bored” while vacationing here.
In addition to the pools and the beach, the resort has a private marina where guests can rent sailboats, WaveRunners, pontoon boats, kayaks and Stand Up Paddle Boards.
The resort offers daily family-friendly activities including arts and crafts by the pool, treasure hunts, yoga on the beach, ice cream sundaes on the pool deck, poolside movies at night and campfires on the beach with s’mores.
There’s also a full service spa if mom wants to sneak away for a little pampering while dad and the kids play. If you’re a family that likes to be busy on vacation then you’re going to love this resort!
Nearby Attractions to Explore
It might be hard to drag the kids away from the resort but there are many family-friendly activities in the surrounding area of Fort Myers as well. There are rental bicycles available so that families can explore the island beyond the resort and guests can also sign up for dolphin tours, kayak tours and more.
The resort is also just a short 20 minute drive across the bay to Sanibel Island where you can walk the beach to find the prettiest seashells or explore local wildlife at the J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge.
A visit to Pink Shell Beach Resort could be the perfect family summer vacation – one where the kids won’t be able to wait to get back to school to tell everyone what they did on their summer vacation!
