Photo Highlights from our weekend visit to Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas.
Winter in the Toronto area has been relentless this year with record-breaking cold and snowfall so we were all anticipating our spring break escape to Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas for a few days.

Our extended weekend at Atlantis didn’t play out quite the way that we had envisioned though. We arrived late in the day on Thursday and enjoyed the warm breeze, the pools and the beach for a couple of hours before dinner. The next morning we ran into friends from home and Emma and the three girls had a fabulous time playing outside all day and at Club Rush that evening.

Then overnight between Friday and Saturday, Emma woke up with a tummy bug and she was ill for the balance of the weekend. There was even a brief time on Monday morning that I thought I might have to take her to the hospital rather than the airport to fly home. Fortunately, we were able to make our flight and she has recovered nicely although I have had to promise a return trip in the near future to make up for all that she missed out on.
Even though our weekend didn’t go according to plan, it was still a break to escape the snow and the cold for a few days and enjoy this stunning resort property. These are a few of my favourite photos from the weekend.

I followed your trip on instagram and Facebook and such a bummer that mean little tummy bug! That is always my biggest fear while traveling- sickness. I hope you two do get to return again someday!

I think that Lazy river is about my speed. Glad you got some sun and warm sand lady. You all definitely deserved it after this winter!!!

Thanks, Hilarye! Emma’s pushing for sooner rather than later and I just might give in – I felt that bad for her!!

Poor Emma! I’m sure the moments she had with friends at Atlantis were precious. I think she deserves a huge summer trip π We’ve only been to Atlantis on a brief tour during a cruise stop in Nassau. It’s such a beautiful resort and the kids loved the Dig. Im glad I got this virtual tour from you. We’d love to return for an extended land trip one of these days. I’m with you on the yachts but I always tend to gawk at the ones with the helicopters on them.

Thanks, Muza-chan!!

That particular river was far too fast for me! In fact, Emma was thrown from her tube through one of the sets of rapids and decided that she was just fine sticking to the slides! π

It’s funny you should mention helicopters because we saw a yacht with a helicopter for the first time this trip. Emma was blown away by the fact that they were sailing around with their own helicopter on deck!!

I haven’t been to the Bahamas, but this looks great! The weather looks wonderful and sunny. The resort looks clean and spacious with a lot of activities to suit everyone’s needs. Thanks for sharing!

The weather was perfect and the resort is amazing – it’s ideal for a family vacation! Thanks for stopping by today!

A return trip sounds just the thing π
The hotel looks just like the Atlantis in Dubai, by the way.

The same company owns both resort properties. I haven’t let Emma in on that fact yet or she’ll start asking to go to Dubai! π

Gosh it looks so good, sorry that Emma was sick π
But like you say you can return again!!
The shark and stingrays look so good yet I could imagine kids wanting to play in the water with them.

I’m ready for one of those weekends right now – minus the tummy bug – as it has been snowing almost every day for a week – and the snow was almost gone before that. What a bummer for Emma.

Thanks, Lisa – Emma felt quite sorry for herself too! There are specific times available when guests can sign up to help feed the stingrays. We have never done it but it looks like a great experience!

This has been such a bad winter! Even though Emma was sick it was nice to get away to warmth and sunshine for a few days. Hopefully spring is just around the corner!!

We didn’t get into the resort when stopping over on our cruise, but did get to enjoy the beach alongside! Thanks for sharing the great pics!

I’ve been wanting to visit Atlantis for a long time. I almost thought about going to the one in Dubai, but oh my, I could not come anywhere near coming up with the money. At least Emma got in one good day on the trip. Air travel with a tummy bug is no fun, and I’m sure it had you worried. Here’s wishing that Springtime reaches Canada soon.

Interesting and fun post. Beautiful photos. If you travel to Europe, Valencia (Spain) is a city designed to travel with kids.
