I have to be honest, she was brave – those “living statues” always creep me out!!!
Great picture of her enjoyment though!!!

It seems like every time I come here I’m telling you how adorable Emma looks, but that really is a cute picture of her walking away from the “statue”.
The lady in the background looks like an absolute giant though.

Thanks, Steve! When the statue moved Emma was startled and turned to run back to me as I was snapping her picture. Hadn’t focussed on the woman in the background – she does look like a giant. Maybe she’s standing on something??

My daughter at that age would have been totally freaked out. Good job, Emma.

I agree with Becca! Those things kinda freak me out. That could be because I once had a very unpleasant encounter with a “statue” in dark Salem jailhouse that reached out and touched me when I peered into to cell. Eeeek!

WHAT? I have never in my life seen a living statue before. I’m not sure I could shake their hand. I’m a big wuss. Very cool memory though!

What cute pictures of Emma! I agree with the other ladies — these statues also freak me out. They’re right up there with clowns. But, they seem to be a magnet for kids.

oh gosh that is too cute! I have seen a “Santa” statue in Melbourne last year….it was so funny because he only moved so very slowly and scared the kids that were walking past 🙂
Love the idea of the statue holding Emma’s hand.
Cheers

My 10-year-old is not a big fan of these statues, too life-like and weird. Your little one is quite brave 🙂

I think one of my favorites was when I caught a togaed Roman statue in Rome taking a ciagrette break, sitting on a block of stone. It’s so funny when they act human! I worry about the ones covered in gold paint, though.

@Vera – that’s funny – I’d love to get a photo of a statue “acting human”!

Cute pics. I’m sure that Emma was quite surprised to find the statue was alive! But I have to say it always disappoints me to find these performers and other tourist traps in wonderful places like Avignon.
