The old-fashioned carousels in the south of France are a great way to entertain children while sightseeing in the historic districts.
When we were traveling in the south of France we discovered, much to the delight of our younger daughter, that many of the towns and villages had old-fashioned carousels in the historic areas. Once one of these charming merry-go-rounds has been spotted it is impossible to pass it by without riding – at least once. For the cost of about a Euro it provides a very pleasant diversion from sightseeing and puts a smile on everyone’s face.

Gorgeous! I love a good carousel! She looks like she is having a great time 🙂

Funny, I’ve seen the carousel near the Eiffel Tower, but it never occurred to me that France does have quite a few!

How cute! And she looks fashionable no matter where she was. 🙂

My son says he’s “riding the horsies” whenever he gets to ride a carousel. These look so charming!

Such wonderful old-world fun they are. My youngest used to love them, too. She’s 10 now, so nothing less than a roller-coaster will do nowadays.
