A Disney Wordless Wednesday post – the theme this week is “Royal Ladies”.
The theme for Disney (Almost) Wordless Wednesday this week is Royal Ladies and, with two daughters, princesses are one thing of which I have an abundance of photos.
Over the years, we have met all the princesses that I like to refer to as the traditional Fab Four (meaning the princesses that I remember from when I was a little girl – Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty – plus Belle) multiple times at Disney World, Disneyland, and on a Disney cruise.
We have been entertained by beautiful princesses dancing and singing in shows.
Cinderella dancing with her Prince
Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip dancing
We have seen princesses smiling and waving in countless parades.
Belle in the holiday parade at Disneyland
Ariel and Prince Eric in the holiday parade at Disneyland
We even amused the Little Mermaid in her grotto one time.
Can’t remember what Emma said but Ariel thought it was rather funny
As Disney has released more princess movies, we have developed new favourites like Tiana, Rapunzel and Pocahontas.
We have had photos taken with princesses that I don’t think are princesses. (There’s an ongoing discussion in my family about whether or not Mulan is a princess. The way I remember the story, Mulan was a commoner and she married a soldier. I don’t think she’s a princess, however, Disney seems to be marketing her that way and both of my daughters agree with Disney and not their mom.)
Emma and Mulan – Is she a princess?
My favourite little princess, however, appeared at the Pirate and Princess Party at Disney World in 2008. Unfortunately, it poured rain all over the party but Emma could not have been happier dressed in her bright pink Princess Aurora gown and looking like an authentic royal lady.

Love the different ages in the shots!

Thanks, Mark!

Good question about Mulan! I remember that at the end of the story the Emperor did bow to her, so she did earn herself a higher status (and not by marriage!)
What I never understood was why Mary Poppins appears at princess breakfasts at both the Castle and in Norway!

What a great collection of Princess pictures, Lisa! I like the last one best =) I know what you mean about our girls getting too old for Princesses. At least we have these pictures to look back on. As for Mulan, that was my initial reaction but considering how the girls in my family finally have an Asian heroine to admire, she was worthy to be part of the Princesses. Don’t they include Tinkerbell too sometimes?
Lisa Goodmurphy
It’s been quite a while since we’ve been to a princess breakfast but we didn’t have Mary Poppins at ours – that must be a newer thing. I agree it certainly makes no sense to have Mary with the princesses – I can see them adding in Peter Pan to appeal to the brothers that have been dragged along but Mary Poppins I don’t understand.
Lisa Goodmurphy
Thanks, Mary! I agree that it’s wonderful to have an Asian heroine for girls to look up to – I just like to think of Mulan as more of a warrior than a princess!

Great collection of photos! Princess Emma is a royal beauty. π

What a fabulous collection of princesses with your princess throughout the years! Good point about Mulan. I’ve never quite figured that one out either.
Thanks so much for sharing and for linking up to the hop:)

Great photos! I think the last one is my favorite. π

I never ever realised that there were so many different princesses! Love the photos π
Amy@DisneyLiving
Beautiful shots. I particularly love the one of Ariel laughing. I also like the difference we see in our children as they age in our Disney pics from year to year. Sweet memories.
Lisa Goodmurphy
Thanks, Lucinda – She was so excited about dressing up! It was a shame that it had to rain because I didn’t get any good photos in the park – it wasn’t just a little drizzle, it was pouring buckets!

Love all the princess pictures. I don’t think I have ever seen Belle with that cloak over her gold dress – veddy interesting π So – does your daughter have a favorite??
(and I agree about Mulan – she’s a warrior, not royalty)
Lisa Goodmurphy
Thanks, Deb – I had thoroughly enjoyed going through all my photos to pick out some princess shots!
Lisa Goodmurphy
Thank you – I’ll let Emma know!
Lisa Goodmurphy
That’s because you have so many boys! And I know nothing about superheroes or bad guys or cars or any of the things that boys love!
Lisa Goodmurphy
Thanks, Amy – I love that one too! I wish that I could remember what Emma had said though. At that age we never knew what was going to come out of her mouth (still don’t sometimes) and I remember her saying something and Ariel bursting out in laughter just as I snapped the pic but, for the life of me, I can’t remember what she said. Now if I had been blogging at the time, I would have written it down! π

That photo of Belle was taken over the Christmas holidays and I think she was dressed for winter. Most of our Disney holidays have been during the spring break but we have visited Disney World and Disneyland over the last couple of Christmases and discovered that some of the characters dress warmer in December/January. Pocahontas, for example, was wearing a long-sleeved, mid-calf length dress when we saw her this past Christmas. The weather was definitely too chilly for them to be walking around in teeny dresses.

Did Katie boycott your princess post? I give Mulan, Pocahontas, Mary Poppins and anybody else who wants to have princess status the benefit of the doubt. They hang in the proper circles to be considered royalty in my books.
Lisa Goodmurphy
Katie’s boycotting pretty much everything lately! π Plus most of her pics with princesses are pre-digital and it takes me about 10x as long to figure out how to scan and upload a photo!

Emma ABSOLUTELY makes the princess grade!!
Lisa Goodmurphy
Thank you – there was a time when she just loved to be dressed up like a princess!
Tami (@CO_MtnMom)
What a GREAT collection!!! Wow – I loved this π And quite a moment there, with Emma cracking Ariel up – LOL
I just love how they stay in character, with their medieval princess movements, mannerisms, and all.
Alyssa
Wonderful shots! Love the one with Ariel and the genuine amusement on her face! π

I can’t wait to take my son to Disney. He will absolutely love it!
Holly
Great pictures! I especially love the one of your daughter and Ariel laughing – what a great memory you were able to capture!

These photos make me reminisce about days as a kid when I wished we could go to Disneyland to see Cinderella. She was the main princess back then that all girls wanted to meet. Your girls certainly look happy to be posing with the lovely princesses!
Lisa Goodmurphy
Thanks, Tami – the one with Ariel makes me laugh every time I look at it!
Lisa Goodmurphy
Thanks, Alyssa!
Lisa Goodmurphy
Thanks, I think that’s my favourite as well – and I don’t think Emma ever realized that she had said something so funny!
Lisa Goodmurphy
I’m sure he will – we have had ours there at a whole range of ages and they have always had a great time!
Lisa Goodmurphy
Thanks, Holly – sometimes I get lucky and snap at just the right time! π
Lisa Goodmurphy
Cinderella was always my favourite princess as a little girl. We never got to go to Disney but fortunately I’ve been able to take my daughters and watch them interact with the princesses that they love.

You probably had to stand in line over the years to get all of these, but I’m sure you’re girls would agree it was worth it.
Lisa Goodmurphy
It was definitely worth it. I think our days of standing in line to see princesses may be nearly behind us and it makes me just a little sad.

My son has a “thing” for the Disney princesses. We took him to Disneyland for the first time earlier this year when he was three. He insisted on meeting the princesses in his own Snow White dress. We drew some curious looks but as soon as he had greeted the question he was back into his boy clothes. Definitely a parenting moment I never would have envisioned I would ever have.
